Dr Phillipa Sharwood
Dr Phillipa Sharwood is an adult and paediatric ophthalmologist. She enjoys treating a wide range of general ophthalmic conditions in patients from birth to over 90 years old.
She has special interests in:
Cataract surgery in adults and children
Strabismus (turned eyes) in adults and children
Dr Sharwood undertook her general ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital before completing additional subspecialty fellowships in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the Cambridge University Hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London.
Dr Sharwood is a visiting medical officer in Ophthalmology at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Queensland Children’s Hospital where she is active in the training of medical students, ophthalmologists in training and visiting international fellows in strabismus surgery, cataract surgery and paediatric ophthalmology. She is a RANZCO College Examiner in Basic and Clinical Sciences and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Queensland Faculty of Medicine.
She is a founding partner of Queensland Ophthalmic Specialists.
Outside of her work she is mother to three lovely but active children and a lazy Labrador. Her favourite things are swimming, cooking for friends and family, and enjoying an uninterrupted cup of coffee with her husband.
