Dr Andrew Kleinschmidt
Dr Andrew Kleinschmidt is a general ophthalmologist with special interests in premium intra-ocular lens cataract surgery and pterygium excision surgery. He also has extensive experience in the management of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
Andrew prioritises clear communication and genuine empathy in all interactions with patients. In 1995, Andrew completed his undergraduate medical training, with first class honours, at the University of Queensland. He undertook ophthalmology training in Adelaide, South Australia.
Andrew completed his training with fellowships in Exeter and Bath in the UK. He was admitted as Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) in 2006.
Andrew regularly hosts Optometry students from QUT and has been involved with outreach programs to Myanmar and Nepal, to teach modern cataract surgical techniques.
